Psychic Carmen Harra or her agent threaten critics

I’ve written an article a while ago about Carmen Harra , the well-known author and psychic and the predictions she got wrong in 2011. They are mostly related to romanian events so I won’t try and explain everything. Article is also. in romanian, sorry

For background, Carmen Harra has a yearly article in a local paper where she predicts the future. I looked up the predictions she made in 2010 for the year 2011. Mostly failure after failure, no surprises.

However, what was surprising was  that after a few days of zero comments someone starts attacking me while seeming like a genuine fan of Carmen Harra.

I thought, oh well, let’s try and explain the context in which I drew the conclusions of my article (mostly that like all psychics Carmen Harra is a well meaning deluded person or just a fraud).

It didn’t go over very well.

Let me try and illustrate the exchange via screenshots of the comments that can also be found on the original article.

It was a bit odd, having a fan of Carmen make predictions, but I thought, maybe it rubs off when you read her books or something.

I reiterated the point of the article : predictions made for 2011 can’t happen in 2012 and be claimed a win.

Yes, there are some protests in Romania (at the time are writing it’s the tenth day of protests against the government) but it’s still 2012 and her predictions were for 2011.

We chatted a while and I was accused of being the cause for everything bad that happens in Romania, because I don’t admire and support successful Romanians (Carmen Harra is a Romanian citizen that found fame in the US).

Apparently because I can easily show fraud and delusion there’s no way for me to be “normal in the future”.

He made another prediction, which again is odd.

And then, after my last reasonable answer that tried to explain the way to think about psychics in a skeptical way I got this:

Columbeanu is a local older rich fellow who married the typical gold-digger. And Carmen said to the gold-digger (in 2009) that her current husbad won’t be the only man in her life. Which made total sense because she was ~ 20 and he was 50+ . Tell me something obvious, right?

But then, in 2010, the rich dude actually cheated on his trophy wife.  The nerve on the guy!  At the end of 2010, after the scandal was long gone, in a video linked in my original article the trophy wife said “I’m only coming into the country to see my child and my friends”. Two weeks after that, Carmen Harra predicts she will divorce him. Tell me something obvious again, right?

Now, I’m obviously not a “comunist lier”, I don’t even know what that is. I’m also as far away from the Inquisition as someone can possibly be. Hell, i never asked that Harra should be drowned. I didn’t ask anything to be done to her in the original article, just warned people that she fails predictions and that psychics are frauds.

But I don’t know if I deserve to be exterminated, now do I miss Harra?

So I looked up the email that the commenter registered on the blog. This is the original email i received:

And Google, the magical search engine that it is, found the same email on… Carmen Harra’s website!

Yes, it’s Carmen’s official address for receiving payment via PayPal. Does this prove it’s Carmen herself?

I don’t know.

But, there is corroborating evidence.

I also did a whois search on the IP address:

You can see the Name field says Miami-20.

So, let’s do a recap:

1. Person makes predictions

2. Uses the same email address as the PayPal associated account that Carmen Harra uses to receive payment for her readings.

3. Person lives in Miami, Florida. Carmen Harra lives in Hollywood as per the address in the screenshot, but there’s probably a node in Miami that also feeds the internet to Hollywood.

4. Person understands Romanian but speaks English. It could be Google Translate but i don’t think so.

My guess is that this is actually Carmen Harra. Besides the address there’s also the fact that she received WU checks on an address in Florida.  I’m pretty sure Western Union wouldn’t allow anyone except without the full name on the ID pick-up money.

Update: The only downside to that theory is that she claims in numerous articles that her offices are in New York, but are they?  Oddly enough she doesn’t seem to give personal sessions, only by telephone.

But assuming it’s true she is based in New York then this could be her agent. It would make sense for him to handle the email address for PayPal and the money. It would also make sense for the sleazy agent of a psychic fabricator to have email addresses like Vic the Dealer. Doesn’t that just sound like someone you would buy drugs from?

Could Carmen have paid employees to scour the internet for articles about her and make bold comments about how great she is?

But then why would he predict that something would happen to me?

Why would he use the official email address? This supports my second theory that it’s her agent, that would be pretty much his job. And well, i’m pretty sure the agent would imagine that the “Carmen prediction skills” have rubbed off.

Another guess is that the agent  showed Carmen the article,  it pissed her off and then the agent took it upon himself to clear her name.  She might have made these predictions while being angry (she has a history of being wrong about those too)  and the agent just wrote them to me.

Either way, this proves that the worst thing you can do to a person that claims to know the future is to show them how wrong they’ve been in the past.

Update 2: He/she is back and as mad as ever. Who else knew Deepak Chopra is one of the most influential men in the world? And here I thought he is just a deluded pseduo-scientist babbling about things he does not understand.
